Dear Celeste,Stop Spending Money. We have plenty of what we need!
I know, kinda a no-brain-er when you think about it!
Love,
Celeste
Ben just started school and went from full to part time employment. I've cut down the 'financial plan' considerably and this month I'm going to stick with the plan.
I had to post this because I need to be held accountable! From now to the end of the month:
Groceries: $30/week x 4 = $120 remaining for month (totally reasonable when you see my stash of food)
Dining: $30
Clothing: $11
Entertainment: $10
Kids: $1 (left from last month?)
Celeste's Spending Money: I've already spent my money this month and last on supplies for Activity Days and Relief Society Craft day. SO, I need to sell some hair bows and submit my receipts to get my money back :)
Categories withheld: Hygiene and Household. We have plenty of products for at least a month in these two areas!
These are the areas I have some control over. Of course this isn't our complete budget. I'm just leaving out rent, utilities, medical, blah, blah, blah...
How am I going to accomplish this?
1. Turn in my debit card AND check book
2. Spend time homemaking and being a mom instead of shopping and deal finding
3. Plan meals ahead of time and have a shopping list for the grocery store
4. Save Dining money for date night!
5. IF I do absolutely need something that cannot be purchased with cash, then I need to use what I have (aka: $25 in Target gift cards, $50 in Rite-Aid gift cards for transferring prescriptions, and about $24 in Register Rewards at Wal-Greens)
6. Patiently wait for the rebates that should be coming my way this month: $20 Kraft Foods, $10 Kellogg's, and $22 Rite-Aid. Use them to fill my cash envelopes NEXT month.
I will do this!
you can do it. I seriously just decorated my house for 10 bucks. I know that sounds like a lot but there's stuff I did that cost nothing. like a getting a spooky stick from out side. and cutting out bats from contrstuction paper. you could even use old magazine pages. I think the bats would look cooler that way.
ReplyDeleteanyway, I think when you have the least amount of money is when you're the most creative. I remember that post you did about home decor. you totally used a stick for a curtain rod!
you rock!
Thanks for reminding my of the curtain rod stick! I can do it!
