Before
After
I absolutely LOVED President Uchtdorf's talk (Happiness, Your Heritage) from the General Relief Society Meeting! Here is what I did to 'identify a space and beautify it'!
The best part- how low cost it was!!
Refinishing dresser: under $50, including hardware! Although it did take A WHOLE LOTTA time!
Table Runner: $1 @ Dollar Tree
Pumpkins: Made at craft day with my good friends Mandy and Rachel a couple years ago, maybe $5?
Lamp: Free, a neighbor gave it to me when she was moving last summer :)
FAMILY sign: Wedding gift plus Mod Podge :) Thanks Emily for letting me steal your idea! I used paper I already had and bought the Mod Podge and foam brush for about $6. The jar I bought of it will last me a lifetime of projects like this! I'm excited to do another one!
Window Treatment! : This is probably my favorite part!!!
Curtains: $9, 2 hours of pushing the kids in the stroller to the fabric store, then to my in-laws to use the sewing machine, 1 hour of sewing and WOW!! I 'designed' them myself!!
Curtain Rod: FREE!! It was in my in-law's backyard!
Hooks: FREE!! They were in the ceiling when I moved in!
OSBORN sign: Made it a couple years ago at a 'Craft til you puke' day
Total cost= $71, but who is counting? And I didn't have to front the bill all at once :)
I was telling Ben that I would like more money in the 'household' envelope each month so that I can beautify more areas in our home. He said that if there was more money it would only halt my creativity. I hate it when he is right ... [grin]
I am sooooooo impressed!!!! You totally insprire me to do better. Thank you!!! I love you!
ReplyDeleteOkay, that is ONE part of our apartment! The rest of the place is strategically NOT in the picture! I have now identified more places that need to be picked up, cleaned, and vacuumed :) Oh, and a bunch of stuff just needs to go to goodwill!
ReplyDeleteNice blog. I like it!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! You did a great job! Hey what do you (and the other sisters) think about maybe doing those mirrors that I have in my room for a christmas craft together? They mirrors are only $3 at Ikea and I could bring them with me.
ReplyDeleteWAY sweet. I love the curtain rod Idea. I may have to steal it in ther future. I love the pumpkins too! The dresser is way cool too and you worked so hard to do it! WELL DONE!!!
ReplyDeleteI also love how you followed the counsel to take joy in your creation!
I love your curtains, they turned out great! And I really like the way the family letter turned out. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, woman! I'm impressed. I wish you could send some of that craftiness my way! =)
ReplyDeleteI love it Celeste, you are so awesome! What a great idea for the curtain!

ReplyDeleteCeleste! Great job! I really love the space. The dresser is beautiful in the dark color, it makes everything pop. The window treatments are seriously amazing! I love the rod! It rocks! I don't think I've ever seen someone use a stick for a rod. It is some serious domestic engineering. I love how cozy window treatments can make a room feel. Keep it up girl! I love what you're doing!
Wow, awesome job. Love the dresser, that must have been a ton of work. And I must say I love Ben's comment about halting your creativity....lol, too funny, yet too true :) Awesome job on beautifying your home! Now if I could only clean mine!
ReplyDeleteAng, one space at a time! The rest of my apartment is cluttered and disorganized. You just have to identify ONE space :)
ReplyDeletevery cute celeste! don't ever halt your creativeness! loved the "craft til you puke day"--think they are called super saturdays but I agree with you my dear. just wanted to say hi.
