Some things I can't find, because Ben won't let me stay up all night unpacking and organizing. When it is time to sleep, I throw everything that I didn't find a home for into a box and hope that the next day I can get back to it.
WELL, some important 'things' were AWOL- my control journal (for all you flybabies, you know that this is irreplaceable!), lucy's new formula dispenser, our newly purchased DVDs, kids' clothing, camera cord and charger.... the list goes on.
DAVID had stashed them in his new hideout in the TV cabinet. I guess he was a big help in cleaning up my room. Sounds like my style of putting clothes away when I was his age. I'm just glad he confessed before I went crazy looking for the camera cord and control journal.
I was doing laundry and he asks if he can watch the "Moses" movie.
"I know where the Moses Movie suitcase is mom." Then, he went to his secret stash and unloaded all the previously mentioned items- naming them all as he brought them out. I was laughing, laughing, laughing. What a funny kid! Now I know that when I can't find something he really CAN help me find it!!
I am curious to know...what is a control journal?
ReplyDelete"I want you to realize that a Control Journal is just a place to put your routines, basic weekly plan, your zones and other information. With a Control Journal you have a place to keep important items without them getting lost in your numerous hot spots." - FlyLady
ReplyDeleteThe Control Journal is your own personal manual for listing and keeping track of your routines. You can use a notebook, a binder, or even a scrapbook, it doesn't matter - it just has to work for you. You may even want to divide it into two or more books - one that you leave at home, the other that you take with you when shopping, etc. FlyLady uses a notebook with plastic sheet protectors so she can use a dry-erase marker to check off the completed items. She also color codes each section and the zones so they are easy to find.
Make your journal special for you - think of it as a positive thing. FlyLady has a zippered pouch for family pictures. She also carries stamps, post-it notes, change, paper clips, money, her credit cards, and drivers license, library cards, etc. in the pouch. On the back-side of FlyLady's journal, she has phone numbers for her husband in case of an emergency and a very special poem that her husband read to her.
You cannot build a control journal overnight. It takes awhile, and even when you think it is done, you will find that you may change your routines once in awhile to make them better and more efficient. Go slow - build a control journal that works for you! These are the steps to help you build your own control journal. Work on only one at a time, they don't necessary need to be done in the order given. Work on the section that interests you today.
I love the Control Journal idea...it's especially great for us OCD planners! And I love David. Can this kid and I get together? Seriously...I want my kids to be like him, so when I have kids, your kids are invited over ANYTIME! P.S. what's your number? I will call you on Thursday or before so we can get you all set, girl!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! This totally cracked me up! Sweet little David, a man after my own heart! As I looked through my kitchen today, I realized I have two misc. cupboards and three junk drawers! It's enough to make even me crazy.
ReplyDeleteIf he's anything like you, you might want to start looking in the shower for "lost" items!!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. We have a stasher at our house too. It started when we were in Cheney and Hayde would stash everything in the back lining of my recliner. lol At least David remembered where he put all that stuff.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the unpacking. I would probably stay up all night unpacking if I could. I hate living out of boxes.
